Course 7: Implementation of the brain friendly elements of the IPC

A brain friendly approach to learning uses the validated experience of recent research to provide children with the best opportunities to learn.

By the end of this unit, you will:

  1. Know about new brain research and the implications for learning and classroom practice
  2. Know the relationship between learning and the activities that help improve learning
  3. Know that all ideas about improving learning are supported by research
  4. Increased your knowledge of how the design of the IPC incorporates elements that are derived from brain research
  5. Know about the five key elements of the IPC, that help learning, as identified by research

By the end of this unit, you will:

  1. Know in more detail about the link between learning and the activities that help improve learning
  2. Know a number of brain-based strategies to improve learning in your classroom
  3. Be able to reflect on your own current classroom practice
  4. Know about the differences between learning styles and multiple intelligences
  5. Developed your knowledge and understanding of the implications of brain research for learning and classroom practice
  6. Be able to share learning about brain research with the children
  7. Be able to identify the five key elements of the IPC that are derived from brain research and considered how children can experience them through their units of work
  8. Be able to use the IPC Accreditation rubrics to make an initial evaluation of your school’s current status

By the end of this unit, you will:

  1. Consolidated your knowledge about the relationship between learning and the activities that help to improve learning
  2. Know a wide range of practical brain-based strategies that help to improve learning
  3. Know about some different ideas about intelligence
  4. Develop your knowledge about multiple intelligences including the core concepts of each intelligence
  5. Consolidated your understanding of ways to encourage children to adapt and be responsible for their own learning
  6. Be able to see how brain-based strategies are used in the IPC
  7. Be able to implement the five key brain friendly elements of the IPC units
  8. Be able to develop your understanding about how brain-based research can improve learning in the classroom and through the IPC
  9. Be able to use the IPC Accreditation rubrics to make an evaluation of your school’s current status
