Richard began his teaching career at the beginning of the 90s, working across the primary age range. In 2001 he was appointed Headteacher of Grange Primary School in Derbyshire where he led a team who transformed a struggling school within 2 years and in the process designed a curriculum offer that has been identified as one of the most innovative in the world. He left Grange in 2007 to work as a speaker, author and consultant both in the education and corporate sectors. He specialises in the areas of leadership, creativity and innovation. His speaking has taken him all over the globe having recently given education keynote addresses in the US, New Zealand, China, Slovenia, Sweden and Holland. He has worked across the education sector; working with Universities, The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, The National College of School Leadership, The QCDA and the DCSF. He has also worked with some of the world’s largest organisations including: WWF, UNESCO, RBS, HBOS, CNN and Skanska. He works closely with Sir Ken Robinson, who has just written the foreword for Richard’s first book; Creating Tomorrow’s Schools Today (published January 2010, Continuum). He has written articles for the UK and international press and is a regular presenter on Teacher’s TV, recent series include; Teacher Tune Up and Wellbeing@Work.
