Assessment for Learning

The IPC believes that both assessment and assessment for learning are important; we just think that assessment for learning is more so.

If, like us, you are passionate about learning then assessment and evaluation have to matter, too. They are just the ways we find out whether children are learning. But there is a big difference between assessment and assessment for learning. The first reports on how well we have done; the second helps us improve our learning.

The IPC Assessment for Learning Programme:

  • Identifies the key learning goals in eight subjects and international mindedness
  • Provides rubrics for teachers that describe children's performance in terms of begininng, developing and mastering
  • Provides the same rubrics for children but in language specially written for them
  • Provides advice for teachers and children on how to help children move from one level to the next
  • Provides great whole-school software for noting and commenting on children's progress

The activities undertaken by children aged 3 to 5 help them work towards the subject, personal and international goals of the IPC Main Programme.
