IPC Online Route Planner
stage 2: schedule your IPC Route
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new and innovative online interactive Route Planning tool.
The new online IPC Route Planner will enable you to plan your IPC unit route map easily and quickly by producing an instant report listing learning goal coverage. Each report will highlight the learning goals that are covered and those that are missing for each Milepost, each year and each subject based on the IPC units you have selected.
The new Route Planner is a web-based tool using a simple four-stage process to create your own IPC Route Map:
- Stage 1 is starting a new route plan by entering data for the academic year.
- Stage 2 moves onto scheduling the academic year by selecting units using an intuitive drag and drop feature.
- Stage 3 then produces a comprehensive online report showing the learning goal coverage identifying learning goals covered and missing for all subject areas. The tool allows the user to export and print their reports in formatted report word document.
- Stage 4 allows the final online route plan to be released
The general feedback from visiting schools that have been testing out the new Route Planner is a distinct sense of relief when they realise how easy it is to use and yet, at the same time, takes much of the hard work out of IPC route planning for them.
The Route Planner is available to all IPC member schools from Thursday June 24th. A detailed support page with links to the Route Planner is available via the
Members' Lounge page..
Note: Route Plans can only be scheduled and released by IPC Members' Lounge users with school administrator rights. Teachers can only access released Route Plans and learning goal coverage reports.

World Cup Units
With the World Cup in South Africa now well underway, we hope the new World Cup units of work are helping you and your children to get the most out of this global event. We’d love to hear from everyone who is celebrating the World Cup this year – so don’t forget to send us your photos and stories and we’d be delighted to include them on the IPC Website. If you haven’t already seen the units, you can download them
here directly from the IPC website.
IPC Conference Cymru
259 Headteachers, teachers and Local Authority advisors got together in May for the first ever IPC conference in Wales. Schools from all over Wales attended; some schools closing the whole school to allow their entire staff to participate in IPC learning. Thanks to all the schools and to Newport Local Authority who helped to make this event such a great success.
Units of Work Update
We are well underway with updating many of the IPC Units of Work. Thanks to the delegates from the IPC Doha conference who gave some valuable initial feedback on the revised units.
The first batch of updated units are now being edited and piloted in schools before being rolled out in the coming weeks. Exact dates will be announced shortly.
Among the units to watch out for include the Milepost 3 ‘Sustainability’ unit which becomes ‘Climate Control’ and includes children conducting a United Nations-style Global Warming debate; the Milepost 2 ‘Food and Farming’ unit which becomes ‘What’s on the Menu?’ and involves children planning and opening their own restaurant culminating in a Food Critics award ceremony; and the Milepost 1 unit ‘Words in the Air’ which becomes ‘Media Magic’ and includes a fantastic red carpet Oscar-style ceremony as an Exit Point!
Full details on all the updated units and roll-out programme will be sent in the coming weeks.
Members’ Lounge – recruitment
Don’t forget that you can upload any job vacancies at your school onto the IPC website absolutely free of charge. It’s the ideal platform for any recruitment needs and many IPC teachers are now using the website as their initial resource when job-hunting. Simply
